This rare and spectacular insect leaves chameleons in the dust.

No one beats these guys for camouflage. One of only two species of true leaf insects in Australia, they are so cryptic, that not much was known about the adult female until 2012, when one was found in Kuranda, QLD. The name 'Walaphyllium' translates to dancing leaf; 'Wala' from the Dharumbal language meaning 'dance' and 'Phyllium' from Greek language meaning leaf. In terms of a amazing insect pet, you can't go past the Australian Leaf insect!

    Leaf and Stick Insects

Posted by Jeannie on 12th Nov 2025

The insects are amazing and very interesting. This is the second duo we’ve ordered and my son now has 5 of them which includes the extra gift you added. Thank you so much. We’ve experienced malting and was able to capture part of it on video which was so satisfying to watch. My 10year old son has a few different species now which includes 6 Spiny Leaf insect, crowned stick, Giant Northern and the Violet winged stick insect. All so very easy to take care of. He gets excited when they malt because you can tell they’re growing. The Giant Northern is about 18cms now and my son takes a photo after each malt for comparison. It’s actually really quite interesting to see after only having them for almost 2 months. Thank you again. He’s already thinking about his next purchase for Xmas.

Great quality of animal! Arrived in great condition and great communication from the company regarding a few questions I had. However, she was a bit bigger than I expected but no harm in that!
