This rare and spectacular insect leaves chameleons in the dust.
Closely related to Stick insects, the Australian Leaf Insect (Walaphyllium monteithi) is one of only two species of true Leaf Insects (Phylliidae) native to Australia. This Far North Queensland species is rarely seen and an incredibly camouflaged beauty of the insect world. No one beats these guys for camouflage. They are so cryptic, that not much was known about the adult female until 2012, when one was found in Kuranda, QLD. The name 'Walaphyllium' translates to dancing leaf; 'Wala' from the Dharumbal language meaning 'dance' and 'Phyllium' from Greek language meaning leaf. In terms of a amazing insect pet, you can't go past the Australian Leaf insect!

Wondrous Beasts
My two leaf insects arrived safe with fresh leaves and plenty of energy. One is a perfect match to the Lilly Pilly leaves and disappears in plain sight. The swaying walk is so cute, and the tail end curls and uncurls in sync.

Australian Leaf Insect
I usually buy the Hooded Katydids, but decided to give these guys a go. I absolutely love my 2 girls! The smaller of the two just had a successful molt and has grown a bit. Im lucky to have lots of Lilly Pilly around my house and the girls have been eating very well. Highly recommend!

Amazing
I absolutely love these guys!!! I ordered 2 females about 3 months ago and recently ended up deciding to order a male. Me and my kids have learnt so much since we got them. After a minor order hiccup, Deanna was amazing and we were super happy to receive our male plus a bonus insect also! Thank you so much

Phyllium monteithi
The insect arrived happy and safe, it shed it’s skin in 2 days after shipping but then she couldn’t hold onto leaves and eat, I changed the leaf to the same type of Lilly pilly from a different tree and she instantly started getting better and eating again, I am very happy! It caught the attention of most people in my family and I have ordered another one! Expecting it this week!
