This rare and spectacular insect leaves chameleons in the dust.

Closely related to Stick insects, the Australian Leaf Insect (Walaphyllium monteithi) is one of only two species of true Leaf Insects (Phylliidae) native to Australia. This Far North Queensland species is rarely seen and an incredibly camouflaged beauty of the insect world. No one beats these guys for camouflage. They are so cryptic, that not much was known about the adult female until 2012, when one was found in Kuranda, QLD. The name 'Walaphyllium' translates to dancing leaf; 'Wala' from the Dharumbal language meaning 'dance' and 'Phyllium' from Greek language meaning leaf. In terms of a amazing insect pet, you can't go past the Australian Leaf insect!

I received my Phyllium today, 2 days after she was posted, and that's pretty goof considering I live in Tasmania (Usually it takes a lot longer for things to get to me) and she was healthy :) This is my 3rd purchase though Minibeastwildlife and it won't be my last, communication is great and they are packaged really well, and arrive on time!
